With just about two months left in the race for the White House, Donald Trump leads Hillary Clinton by two points in a CNN/ORC poll released today.
The new survey, taken Sept. 1-4, shows Trump at 45%, Clinton at 43%, libertarian Gary Johnson at 7% and Jill Stein of the Green Party at 2%. Trump’s lead is within the poll’s margin of error.
The poll found Trump with a 20-point lead on Clinton among independent voters, 49%-29%.
Trump’s steady climb in the polls has come amid continuing questions about Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state and possible corruption at the Clinton Foundation.
